Welcome to the Diocese of Roseau!
Thank you for visiting our website. Established in 1850, the Diocese of Roseau encompasses the Commonwealth of Dominica and is a member of the Antilles Episcopal Conference.
We trust you will enjoy browsing the various pages of this site and that it will give you some insight into the life and work of the Diocese.
The Diocese of Roseau is currently in the process of preparation for a Diocesan Synod to be convened in November 2010.
At the two sessions of the last Diocesan Synod convened in 1996 and 1998, much was achieved, but after ten years of implementation, the time seems ripe for us to re-examine ourselves as a Church and to determine the direction we wish to take for the next ten years. Obviously, it will provide us an opportunity to look reflectively on the conclusions of the last synod to see whether they can still respond to the needs of the present time and help us in forging the future.
However, conscious of the tremendous need for continued evangelization in a world threatened by countless social, moral, religious and other pressures, and the need for all Catholic Christians to see themselves as playing a vital part of the fulfillment of the salvific work of God, the synod will be guided along the theme: Disciples on Mission: Gifted and Called.
The secret of the success of the Synod is prayer and hard work. Therefore I invite all the faithful, clergy, and religious to join in storming the gates of heaven and to put the needed effort towards the success of this special event. I have every confidence that with your help we will achieve our goal.
